Women’s Rights

Women’s rights refer to the freedoms and entitlements claimed for women and girls worldwide, encompassing a broad range of social, political, and economic rights. These rights include, but are not limited to, the right to vote, the right to work and receive equal pay, the right to education, the right to make decisions about one’s own body, and the right to be free from violence and discrimination. The movement for women’s rights seeks to achieve gender equality, challenging societal norms and legal frameworks that perpetuate discrimination and inequality based on gender. Women’s rights are recognized in various international agreements, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). The ongoing struggle for women’s rights aims to address both historical injustices and contemporary issues faced by women, promoting empowerment and social justice.
